Access statement to Settle Lodge

Introduction

Settle Lodge is 7 bedroom guest house located 5 minutes walk from the market square of Settle and the station. Built in 1896 there are some features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. The guest house is accessed by climbing 4 steps to the front door plus a further step on the path from the car park. There are 4 rooms at first-floor level and 3 rooms at second-floor level. None of the rooms are suitable for wheelchair access.

Settle is a market town lying on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The railway station provides good rail links to the rest of the country as well as being the start of the famous Settle-Carlisle line which many regard as the most scenic railway line in England. It is one of the hubs of puplic transport in the area and so makes an ideal base for those who wish to leave their car at home. The town offers a good mix of interesting shops and restaurants along with several fine old pubs which serve a good selection of Yorkshire brewed ales and excellent food.
 
Settle Lodge is an ideal base from which to explore the breathtaking and dramatic scenery of The Yorkshire Dales.

Pre Arrival

  • Settle Lodge is located approximately 1/4mile from the market square and station.
  • Taxi services are available to transport you from the station. We would be happy to arrange this for you if you phone. Unfortunately we are not insured to pick up guests.

  • We do not have a brochure as the internet has become our most effective way of advertising.

  • We send a confirmation to everyone who books a stay with us. A map of our location and contact details are included in this confirmation.
  • Children of any age are welcome
  • Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • It is always useful for us to know your estimated time of arrival
  • Our preferred check-in times are either before 12:30pm or after 4:30pm. We cannot guarantee your room will be ready before 12:30pm but you can park the car, leave luggage and collect your key
  • Parking is at the back of the house which is accessed via a drive way to the side. One needs to walk along the side of the building, negociating one step on the way to the front of the building where the entrance is.
  • There is a parking space for each of our 7 bedrooms but this relies on our guests parking within the defined parking bays
  • We offer assistance with luggage
  • Guests arriving on foot have an additional 5 steps to make from the main street to the front of the house

  • There are four steps up to the front door wide enough for two abreast with a hand rail
  • Public Areas - General (Internal)

  • All public areas are carpeted except the dining room.
  • The guest house is centrally heated throughout and temperatures can be adjusted in each room to suit individual requirements
  • All public areas area uniformly lit all night

  • Each bedroom has its own WC facilities but there are no WC facilities for public use.
  • Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe

  • We have a lounge/seating area at one end of our dining room
  • Guests are welcome to use the seating area at any time
  • The dining room is lit by a standard lamp which is on timer from dusk till 11:30 aprox. as well as the ceiling lights which can be switched on.
  • A selection of local information is available in the dining room
  • The dining room has a wood floor with tables for 2 that may be joined together for larger groups
  • Bedrooms

  • We do not accommodate pets.
  • All bedrooms have a well-stocked hospitality tray
  • All bedrooms have one easy chair or more.
  • All bedrooms have flat screen TV's and DVD players
  • All our duvets and pillows are non-feather

  • Bedroom 1 is located on the first-floor with 18 steps to reach. The bed is a standard 4'6" wide double.  The en-suite bathroom comprises of shower, washbasin and wc.

  • Bedroom 2 is located on the first-floor with 18 steps to reach. The beds are 3'wide twin beds which can be combined to make a super-king 6' wide double bed. The en-suite bathroom comprises of shower, washbasin and wc.

  • Bedroom 3 is located on the first-floor with 18 steps to reach. The bed is a standard 4'6" wide double.  The en-suite bathroom comprises of shower, washbasin and wc.

  • Bedroom 4 is located on the first-floor with 18 steps to reach.  The bed is a super-king 6' wide double bed.  The en-suite bathroom comprises of bath with shower over, washbasin and wc.

  • Bedroom 5 is located on the Second-floor with 18 steps to reach the landing and then a further 17 steps.  The bed is a standard 4'6" wide double bed.  The en-suite bathroom comprises, shower, washbasin and wc.

  • Bedroom 6 is located on the second-floor with 18 steps to reach the landing and then a further 17 steps.  The beds are 3'wide twin beds which can be combined to make a super-king 6' wide double bed. The en-suite bathroom comprises of shower, washbasin and wc.

  • Bedroom 7 is located on the second-floor with 18 steps to reach the landing and then a further 17 steps.  The bed is a standard 4'6" wide double.  The en-suite bathroom comprises of shower, washbasin and wc.

  • All bathrooms have ceramic tiling.

  • During the summer months, tables and chairs are available at the front of the house.
